Alignment to Standards

All curriculum in Revere Public Schools is aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. These frameworks provide all stakeholders with a shared expectation for what students should know and be able to do at the end of each year.

DESE Family Guides

These guides to the Massachusetts learning standards help families understand what students are expected to know and be able to do by the end of each grade in English Language Arts and literacy, mathematics, science, technology/engineering, and history and social science. Designed to help families and teachers work together to support learning, the guides are available in English, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.

Revere Public Schools’ History and Social Studies instruction provides culturally responsive, inquiry-based learning experiences that empower all scholars to understand the past and engage with the present. Students regularly analyze diverse sources, investigate compelling questions, and participate in evidence-based discussion and writing. Through inclusive curricula, tiered supports, and professional learning, students develop historical thinking skills and civic readiness across all grade levels.

Revere Public Schools’ ELA instruction provides culturally relevant and authentic learning experiences that empower all scholars to grow and achieve, and is responsive to the collective learning needs of current students. All students will have frequent opportunities to read, write, and speak with one another, grounded in complex and varied texts, to become analytical readers/writers and effective communicators prepared for the 21st century. We endeavor to research and invest in tiered levels of literacy intervention programs, specific classroom supports for literacy, and professional partnerships to address the needs of readers in the elementary, middle, and secondary levels.

Our Physical Education program offers students in grades K–12 engaging, inclusive learning experiences that support the Whole Child. Through developmentally appropriate instruction, students build physical literacy, fitness, teamwork, and confidence. Our program encourages a love of movement, healthy habits, and positive social skills, helping students develop the knowledge and motivation needed for lifelong physical activity and overall well-being.

The Fine & Performing Arts curriculum provides students in K-12 grades with meaningful opportunities to create, perform, respond, and connect through visual art, music, theater, and performance-based learning. Our ESL curriculum is aligned with the WIDA English Language Development Standards Framework and is designed to ensure equitable access to high-quality instruction for all Multilingual Learners across a range of English proficiency levels. ESL instruction emphasizes meaningful, grade-level content connections and supports student language development across the four language domains: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Learning experiences are differentiated and scaffolded to meet individual student needs. The curriculum values the linguistic and cultural assets of students, while supporting their progress toward English proficiency, academic success, and full participation in school and community life.

World Language

Our World Language curriculum is aligned with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (MA DESE) World Language Frameworks and is designed to develop students’ ability to communicate effectively and interculturally. Instruction is proficiency-based and emphasizes meaningful communication in the three modes of communication (interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational). Students engage in authentic, real-world tasks that integrate language, culture, and content while developing increasing independence in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The curriculum fosters cultural understanding through exploration of diverse perspectives, practices, and products of the target cultures, promoting global competence and respect for linguistic and cultural diversity.

The Special Education Department provides services mandated by state and federal law for students with disabilities. No child is excluded from a free, appropriate public education due to autism, developmental delay, intellectual, sensory, neurological, emotional, communication, physical, learning, or health disabilities. Revere Public Schools offers full inclusion, partial inclusion, and substantially separate programs. Programming emphasizes data-driven instruction, transition planning, independence, and self-advocacy, and aligns with the Massachusetts Curriculum Standards and Common Core. All curriculum includes appropriate accommodations and modifications for access.
