Affected by November SNAP cuts?

The North Suffolk Public Health Collaborative — a joint effort of Revere, Chelsea, and Winthrop — continues to strengthen local food access through coordinated community programs designed to ensure that no resident goes hungry. Created in 2016, the Collaborative brings together municipal officials, health and human service providers, hospitals, resident groups, and nonprofits to address public health challenges more effectively through regional cooperation.

One of the group’s key initiatives is the North Suffolk Food Access Map, a resource updated daily to connect residents with local food pantries, free meal distributions, and mobile markets across the three communities.

The map, available online at https://tinyurl.com/yvwt2dva, lists detailed hours and locations for dozens of sites offering free or low-cost meals and groceries.

In Revere, weekly and monthly food distributions take place at the First Congregational Church, Revere Veterans Services, and several Mobile Market sites operated in partnership with Food for Free and CHA Revere. Meanwhile, in Winthrop, residents can access assistance through the Winthrop Community Food Pantry and local outreach organizations such as Mi Amore. In Chelsea, residents can find weekday hot breakfasts and lunches at Luz de Cristo/SELAH, weekly food pantries at La Colaborativa and St. Luke’s/San Lucas, and community meals hosted by organizations such as Revival Kitchen and GreenRoots.

The Collaborative’s director works under the guidance of a board composed of Revere’s Mayor, Chelsea’s City Manager, and Winthrop’s Town Manager. Each community contributes proportionally to the Collaborative’s funding, with plans to seek targeted grants for specific initiatives such as food insecurity, housing stability, and public health education.

By combining efforts, the North Suffolk Public Health Collaborative helps ensure that critical needs — such as access to nutritious food — are met across city and town lines. The partnership underscores a simple truth: regional collaboration can make a meaningful difference in the everyday lives of residents.
